About Us
Our club is named after Klahhane Ridge, the Olympic Mountain range visible behind Port Angeles. "Klahhane" is a Chinook term meaning "fun or good times in the mountains". The name was added to maps of Olympic National Park in 1961.
Klahhane Gymnastics is a 501c3 non-profit incorporation. The Governing Board consists of former athletes, parents and community members. The daily operations are overseen by the Directors.
Erica Ryan is serving as Klahhane Gymnastics' Director of Operations. Erica brings a lifelong passion for the sport and decades of experience as both an athlete and coach. Her gymnastics journey began at the age of seven and quickly grew into a deep commitment to the discipline, resilience, and joy that gymnastics fosters. Erica competed through the YMCA competitive gymnastics program, advancing to Level 10 and continued her competitive career at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where she competed at the collegiate level. In addition to competing, Erica has dedicated many years to coaching and mentoring young athletes. She coached at local YMCA programs, helping gymnasts build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and discover their own potential. She also coached at Woodward Camp, where she had the opportunity to work alongside some of the nation’s top collegiate coaches and learn from leaders shaping the future of gymnastics. She believes gymnastics offers far more than physical skill—it teaches discipline, courage, resilience, body awareness, and self-confidence that extends far beyond the gym. Her vision is to create environments where athletes feel supported, challenged, and inspired to grow, both as gymnasts and as individuals.
Steve Rodriguez serves as Klahhane Gymnastics’ Director of Programs and Facilities. His gymnastics journey began more than 20 years ago and has included coaching recreational gymnastics, competitive gymnastics, and CrossFit gymnastics, while also mentoring athletes across a variety of sports. For more than 25 years, Steve has worked with children and families, helping young athletes build confidence, develop healthy movement habits, overcome challenges, and discover what they are capable of both inside and outside of sport. In addition to his work in athletics, Steve is a local small business owner and active member of the Port Angeles community. He believes meaningful programs are built through strong relationships, thoughtful communication, and environments where every child feels welcomed, supported, and encouraged to grow. Gymnastics has shown Steve that movement can be a powerful teacher. His hope for Klahhane is to foster a culture where children develop perseverance, self-confidence, mindfulness, emotional resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for movement and community.
Kelsey Walsh is serving as Klahhane Gymnastics’ Director of Curriculum and Training. Gymnastics has been part of Kelsey’s life since the age of three. She spent sixteen years in the sport, including twelve years as a competitive gymnast and her final four years competing as both a Level 10 and high school athlete. Those experiences helped shape her character, resilience, and love for helping others grow. Kelsey began coaching recreational gymnastics at fourteen and quickly discovered a passion for working with children. Over the years, that passion has expanded through coaching, youth mentoring, gymnastics judging, school counseling, and volunteer work with Special Olympics athletes. She hopes to help the young gymnasts at Klahhane discover the same confidence, friendships, joy, and sense of belonging that gymnastics gave her while fostering a supportive environment where every child feels seen, valued, encouraged, and empowered to thrive.
